Riyadh - KUNA

Kuwaiti Minister of Education and of Higher Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi and the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Thursday inaugurated the Kuwaiti pavilion at the 29th National Heritage and Culture Festival (Al-Janadriyah) here, held Under the auspices of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. The two officials toured the pavilion where the items on display included artifacts representing and tools used in old Kuwait as well as photos reflecting the special bonds between the two states and people, along with traditional handicrafts. They were also treated to a detailed review on organization and items in the pavilion by its supervisor, Nasser Al-Daihani. Following the tour, the ambassador remarked to KUNA that this festival is given utmost care and support by the Saudi King and Crown Prince, and the participants are fittingly elite in their fields, be they literature, art, or other cultural arenas from across the world. He also praised the good organization and management of the festival, noting this is an event of great importance as it helps instill the rising generations with a sense of their homeland's past and origins. The minister and the ambassador then visited the pavilion of the United Arab Emirates, this year's guest of honor, and were also treated to a tour and review of the articles on display. Al-Janadriyah is an annual cultural and heritage festival held in Janadriyah near Riyadh, and lasts for two weeks. It is organized by the National Guard, and was first held in 1985. The activities include a camel race, performance of local music and dancing of the Ardha and the Mizmar. The festival draws more than a million visitors every year. The participants in this cultural event come from different Saudi regions, the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Arab countries, as well as from Islamic countries
