The Palestinian Foreign Ministry Sunday called on UN organizations concerned, particularly the UNESCO, to provide protection to Palestinian academic institutions in order to be able to provide education to the Palestinians.

In a statement carried by Palestinian news agency WAFA, the ministry called on international unions concerned with academic affairs to denounce barbaric assaults and to expose the Israeli violations in this respect.

The Israeli occupation continues its systematic campaign to destroy the academic life in Palestinian through targeting schools and universities and preventing students from reaching their education institutions using "lame excuses", the statement said.

Israeli forces, backed by vehicles, stormed Al Quds University campus in Abudis and detained the guards before barging into several buildings and destroying a book fair organized by students.

Israeli troops also stormed Khadouri University in Tulkarm and destroyed the gates of the computer center on campus. They also stole electronic materials and the university's camera archives.
