The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) is participating in the 11th edition of Souq Okaz in Taif.
The event attracts a large number of ministers, elites, intellectual thinkers, families and media persons from inside and outside the Kingdom.
Abdel Moen bin Hassan Al-Sheikh, head of the western region at SEC, said: “The company’s support for Souq Okaz, one of the most important cultural events in the Arab world, in recent years, is in line with its efforts to support all national bodies to present the best image of culture and national heritage of Saudi Arabia.”
He added: “The SEC has consistently supported Souq Okaz since its first session 10 years ago.
The total cost of electrical service during these years exceeded 22 million riyal ($5.8 million), while the total capacity was about 10.6 megawatts until 2016 with 10 independent ground transformers ... the length of the feeding network reached 35 km, with the provision of various backup sources to be used during emergencies.
“This year, all the overhead networks within Souq Okaz have been converted into underground networks, in addition to the installation of various electrical sources for all events and exhibitions. Twenty specialized engineering and technical teams have been deployed; and all networks were surveyed and maintained according to the highest standards of electrical safety.”
A number of officials and visitors to Souq Okaz have praised the SEC’s contribution to the festival’s success. Guests commended the SEC’s young Saudi engineers and technicians for their quick response to any needs and their ability to meet the growing demands for electricity in more than one location at the souq.
