Egyptian expatriates are overjoyed with the stepped-up relations between their country and the Kingdom following the historic visit of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, which has paved the way for several new developments including the proposed construction of a new causeway between the two countries.
In addition to the causeway project, 21 bilateral agreements and three memorandums of understanding were signed in the presence of King Salman.
Majdi Fayeq, an accountant at a private sector firm, said King Salman’s visit will be written in gold letters in the annals of Egypt and Saudi Arabia. He said the whole Egyptian community is very proud and happy about this visit which has brought the two countries closer than ever.
In this historic maiden visit, Fayeq said King Salman met Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Orthodox Church which gave a clear message to the entire world that Islam is a religion of tolerance and compromise. “The meeting is the first to take place between a Saudi monarch and a Coptic Pope,” he added.
Sales coordinator Mohamed Saeed Ramadan said the visit has strengthened the unity between the two countries, not only demonstrating the power of the two great countries but also promoting investments and businesses which will generate many employment opportunities for the youths of the Kingdom and Egypt.
Shafat Shariff, who works as translator at a publishing house said the two countries have maintained friendly relations from time immemorial. “Our relationship is based on a common religion, culture and customs, and now King Salman has given a new layer to the excellent friendship,” he said, pointing out that the enhanced relations will take the two countries to new heights.
Dr. Hussein Mohamed Ibrahim, who works at a polyclinic, said the visit has opened a new chapter in Saudi-Egyptian relations. “It has given fresh hopes of progress and prosperity for bilateral relations in the social, political, cultural and economic fields,” he noted.
Dr. Mohammed Essam said that the new programs spelt out by King Salman will not only boost the Egyptian economy but will also take the two countries to greater prosperity and developments that will lead to mutual benefits. Egyptians, he said, can never forget the great contributions made by Saudi Arabia for peace, stability and prosperity of their country.
