Addressing the Islamic Summit on behalf of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry hailed the efforts exerted by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and its Secretary General Iyad Amin Madani.
He said the international system became skewed, especially in the Arab and Islamic worlds, noting that most excruciating crises in which thousands of people dies are in the geographical area.
He added that most of extremists and terrorists in this age are unfortunately from our countries, although they do not represent the reality of the tolerant Islamic culture.
He said "we should look for the reasons of the problem because what is happening today results from regional and domestic developments."
He added that wars and unrest in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Iraq result from domestic, regional and international problems.
Shoukry believes that restoring regional and international balance is not enough for solving the current problems. He sees the solution starts from realizing internal stability and building a sound community capable of coping with the developments of the age.
Concerning the Palestinian cause, he said Egypt urged the international community to shoulder responsibility for establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, citing Egypt's efforts in this respect, especially through its membership in the Jerusalem Liaison Group.
As for Libya, he voiced hope that Libya would overcome the current crisis as soon as possible, urging the Libyan parliament to convene to ratify the unity government.
Regarding the Syrian crisis which unfortunately entered its sixth year, he called for a swift political solution meeting the aspirations of the Syrian people and protecting the Syrian lands.
He voiced hope that the Geneva talks on Syria which started on Wednesday would come up with a positive outcome.
