New Maldives President Dr Mohamed Waheed has met with the High Commissioner of India Dnyaneshwar Mulay. Discussions at the meeting, held at Waheed’s office Wednesday, were focused on the close bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance these relations. The High Commissioner offered his confidence of the Indian government’s full support to the government of the Maldives, said a release issued from Waheed’s office. President Waheed reiterated that his objective was to compose a national unity government. Following Former President Nasheed’s resignation Tuesday afternoon, former Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan was sworn into office the same day with the support of several opposition parties.
