German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle praised the political developments in Egypt after the ouster of former President Hosni Mubarak. Westerwelle called the West in an article for German newspaper Bild to continue its support for Egypt in all issues. "Egypt is a critical country in the Arab Spring, so we shouldn't retreat from our political and economic support for it, and we should open out markets for it," Westerwelle said. He added that Egypt has gone a long away after the fall of Mubarak's regime but there are several challenges and freedom hasn't been achieved yet.
