Damascus - Ghaith Hamour

Syrian actor Ramez Al Aswad has announced that he will participate in three TV series over next Ramadan. Aswad said that he will play the role of Abou El Anater in Hammam Shamy (Shami Pigeons). The series is currently being shot in Abu Dhabi, and is directed by Moemen El Molla. Aswad plays the role of a strong young man, whose impulsive nature causes him more harm than good. The actor told Arabstoday that “Abou El Anater is not hated by people, many times the people will find justifications for his actions, and he will be a beloved character for the audience.” Concerning his second series, Aswad confirmed he will participate in the second part of the TV show Zaman el Barghout (Flea’s Era) directed by Ahmed Ibrahim and written by Mohamed Al Zayd. “I will replace the actor Mohamed Haddaky in the role of Safwan, who is an evil man,” said Aswad. He added “the special thing about this character is that his end won’t be bad like we are used to in this type of series.” Finally Aswad will also make a cameo appearance in Sokkar west (Middle Sugar) directed by Al Mothana Sobh. The actor will play the role of Jamils in two episodes in what Aswad calls “a social series that has got a lot of novelty.” He affirmed that the character, despite his negativity, will be sympathised by people, because the audience will take into account the situation in which Jamil lives, which leads him to make mistakes. Ramez Al Aswad is one of the most prolific actors to come from Syrian theatre in the last ten years.
