Beirut - Sleiman Asfahani

Lebanese singer Ragheb Alama has denied intending to run in the upcoming Lebanese parliamentary elections following rumours he might. The singer said he wanted to serve his country and the public through music, or even deal with public affairs through "a comprehensive, inclusive national vision." But Alama said he wouldn't turn down a ministerial post if he was asked, but only if he could make a difference on the ground rather than "sit behind a desk and talk." The singer criticised Lebanese politicians who "call for patriotism but are in reality up to their ears in corruption." "Nations aren't built on wishes. They're built by actions that must be turned into tangible reality."
