Kadri el-Haggar, press officer for Egypt's tourism campaign You Light Up Egypt, has condemned Lebanese actor Wael Jassar for demanding his full $30,000 fee to perform at a concert promoting Egypt as a tourist destination in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). El-Haggar also claimed that Jassar had also refused to take part in a concert "in honour of the mothers of the January 25 revolution's martyrs." Other big-name pop singers, including Haifa Wehbe and Nancy Arjam, have agreed to perform concerts promoting Egypt, waiving their usual fees “saying they’re repaying a Tourism in Egypt has suffered since the outbreak of protests against the former President Hosni Mubarak in early 2011. Kidnappings and outbreaks of violence are a regular concern for prospective travellers.
