Cairo - Marwa Yahia

35.9 per cent of 'Arabstoday' readers think that Egyptian movie stars are leaving theatres to work on TV as people do not go to the theatre anymore, according to a poll on the website's entertainment page. 19.7 per cent instead thinks that the choice is due to the hard times the Egyptian movies' industry is going through nowadays. The diversity of work between cinema and TV, which seems to be preferred by artists, can be another reason according to the 18.4 per cent of the readers who responded to the poll. Another 14.5 per cent said it is because producers do not pay the actors enough. A large number of Egyptian movie stars are currently working on TV drama in the season of next Ramadan. Ahmed El Sakka is working on a series called "Red lines." Karim Abdel Aziz will launch this year the series "Escape." Mahmoud Abdel Aziz will also return to the small screen with "Bab el Khal’", as well as Tunisian actress Hind Sabri who is working in a series adapted from the novel "Vertigo
