Dubai - Arab Today

The Board of the Dubai Sports Council has thanked H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, for supporting the sports sector in general and specifically the NAS Sports Tournament, which was launched under H.H. Sheikh Hamdan's directives and has become the most important sporting event during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed attended the fifth edition of the tournament on 28th May at the NAS Sports Hall, where he praised the participation of the youth, including Dhaher Al Muhairi, from the People of Determination category during the opening ceremony, encouraging him to continue training.

During the Council's 21st meeting held yesterday, chaired by Matar Al Tayer, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, the Council thanked H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, for inaugurating the fifth edition of the sporting and community tournament that was organised by Dubai Sports Council from 28th May to 17th June, under the slogan, "Unlimited Capabilities". The tournament includes competitions in nine sports and a total prize value exceeding AED6 million.

Al Tayer said that the tournament has become the most important sporting event during the Holy Month of Ramadan and throughout the year since its inception, due to the support, patronage and directions of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, where a number of athletes from various disciplines participate and thousands of sports fans attend.

He added that the tournament is an excellent opportunity for the nation’s athletes to enhance their skills and develop their performance by competing with the best sporting competitors, including many international competitors who have won several international tournaments.
