Manama - Arab Today

Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowder, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, asserted that Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities and Girls has improved over the years thanks to the support and patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities.

Al-Jowder said that HH took the responsibility of embracing the Bahraini youth and sports movement and improve it, in line with the directives of the leadership and HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.

Al-Jowder affirmed that the continued improvement of Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League reflects HH’s concern and keenness on developing the Bahraini sport by organising different activities and events that attract the youth and athletes of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He said that including more categories in the league such as the people with disabilities and girls' teams has reflected positively on the popularity of the league and the game among the Bahraini youth.

The Minister underscored that the initiatives of HH prove his concern about the youth category and keenness to grant them the opportunities to discover their talents and skills, adding that Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League has become an opportunity to strengthen social cohesion, enable citizens with disabilities and integrate them with different activities and motivate the Bahraini youth and athletes.

Al Jowder reiterated the ministry’s support to the initiatives launched by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa in order to enable the youth and sports movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

It's worth mentioning that Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League is organised for the fifth consecutive year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs in cooperation with the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The league comes within the sports and humanitarian initiatives of His Highness and is themed #Generations_Meeting. Launched on July 24, the league included 59 teams that represented three categories, youth centres and unregistered clubs, centres and societies of people with disabilities and girls' teams for the first time this year. The final matches of the three tournaments will be held on Sunday and the winners will be awarded and honoured by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.

Referees ready for final matches

Jassim Mahmoud, Head of the Referees Committee of Khalid bin Hamad Futsal League for Youth Centres, People with Disabilities and Girls and Retired International Referee said the referees spared no effort in contributing to the success of the league this year.

Mahmoud said the committee has assigned 15 referees, including five internationally approved referees to perfectly manage the matches of the league and ensure the progress of the matches.

He added that the referees managed 147 matches in the three tournaments of the league including youth centres and unregistered clubs, people with disabilities and girls' teams.

He emphasised on the committee's readiness for the final three matches of the league on Sunday and expressed that committee members are proud to be part of such a reputed national sports activity held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.

Mahmoud appreciated the generous support of HH to the local youth and sports movement and highlighted the efforts paid by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs to ensure the success of the league, at the same time he wished the six teams that qualified to the final matches of the league all the best and success.
