Rabat - Arab Today

18 people were killed and 1,573 were injured, including 76 seriously, in 1,210 traffic accidents that occurred in urban areas on March 13-19, the police said.

These accidents were mainly ascribed to non-control of vehicles, non-respect of priority, excessive speeding, pedestrian and driver errors and driving under the influence of alcohol, the same source pointed out in a statement.

More than 31,889 traffic tickets were issued by the police during the same week.

The sum of fines paid by road traffic violators stood at around MAD 4.7 million, the same source said.
