H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Thursday, received Dr. Magdi Yacoub, Egyptian-British cardiothoracic surgeon, at his office in Sharjah.

Sheikh Sultan exchanged greetings with Dr. Yacoub and discussed with him a number of scientific and research topics.

The Sharjah Ruler praised Dr. Yacoub's efforts internationally and locally and his success as one of the most famous cardiologists in the world in presenting a distinguished image of the Arab doctors worldwide through his research and medical contributions.

Dr. Yacoub expressed his thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Sultan for providing the opportunity to meet with him, praising the scientific and cultural renaissance witnessed by the emirate.

Dr. Yacoub extended an invitation to Sheikh Sultan to visit the Aswan Heart Centre in Egypt and the latter welcomed the invitation, to be determined later.

Later, Dr. Yacoub visited the University City in Sharjah, where he learnt about the great potential of the university, colleges and scientific institutes, as well as the University Hospital and the Research Institute for Medicine and Health Sciences.

Dr. Yacoub praised the unlimited interest and support of Sheikh Sultan for the development of higher education, scientific research and specialised institutions for research and development.
