Abu Dhabi - Arabstoday

An increase in the capacity of kindergarten classrooms and the opening of 21 new schools in the emirate of Abu Dhabi have provided additional seats in public schools for pupils at the kindergarten level. This is expected to accommodate student numbers which are rising with the population growth, the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) said in a statement yesterday. "Each kindergarten level can now accommodate 140 more pupils because of an increase in classroom capacity from 20 to 23 pupils, as well as a rise in the number of classrooms at each level from 12 to 16," said Mohammad Salem Al Daheri, executive director of school operations at Adec. The new facilities opened his year include schools in Al Daher and Umm Gafa, Al Khaleef Kindergarten in Al Ain, as well as other schools in the capital. Dr Mugheer Al Khaili, director general at Adec, on a recent visit noted that the new schools had modern educational media, playgrounds, theatres, swimming pools and clinics.
