32nd round of GCC Documents, Studies Centers kicks off

The 32nd session of the GCC Documents and Studies Centers, which is hosted by the Kuwait Research and Studies Center (KRCS), kicked off here on Wednesday.
Head of the Kuwaiti Research and Studies Center Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghunaim confirmed in an opening speech that the meeting proves, over more than three decades, the unity of the history of this region and the compatibility of its cultural components.
Al-Ghunaim said that "we strive to preserve the heritage of this region of documents and manuscripts," adding that "we sought to spread awareness among citizens about the importance of documents, which are evidence of history.
He said that the growth of this archive has become a scientific reference for many researchers and "a material which added to our history details that were not known and corrected some of the errors that came in some documents and foreign sources on which the researchers relied".
For his part, Secretary-General of the GCC Documents and Studies Centers Dr. Fahd Al-Samari stressed in a similar speech the need to communicate with Gulf youth and activate the social networking sites of the Gulf countries.
Al-Samari pointed to the need to coordinate collection of historical materials and the delivery of information through social networking sites to young people to raise awareness of the importance of documents, which are the testimony of history, stressing the unity of history between the Gulf States.
The General Secretariat of the GCC Documents and Studies Centers held its 31st session in Muscat in May 2017.
