Third Field army men raided a terrorist hotbed in central Sinai, killing 15 militants and arresting seven others, the spokesman for the Armed Forces said Thursday.
While hunting down militants, two explosive devices went off, killing three army officers and seven soldiers.
In a statement, the spokesman said the army men destroyed two warehouses where half a ton of TNT explosive material, explosive devices, medical equipment and some surveillance tools were found inside.
The forces also seized two four wheel drive vehicles full of hand grenades, ammunition, documents related to the militants, laptops, cell phones and vehicle registration plates.
The spokesman offered the army's condolences to the victims' families.
