HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti called on all companies and businessmen to visit Qatar to explore the promising investment opportunities in the country, stressing that the State will provide all necessary facilities for foreign investors and companies.
Addressing a session on transport and infrastructure on the sidelines of the Qatar-UK Business and Investment Forum, which began today in London, Al Sulaiti said that the transport and communications sector in Qatar has seen significant growth in recent years, especially with the establishment of the Doha Metro and the fast train linking Qatar with the rest of the GCC countries.
HE the Minister of Transport and Communications expressed his hope that the railway project, which will link the GCC countries, would commence by the end of this year, hoping that major foreign companies would contribute to the implementation of this huge project.
Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) Hassan Al Thawadi said there is no strong economy without a strong and efficient transport network, pointing out that the State's vision for modern means of transport stems from Qatar National Vision 2030 to implement all future projects.
Al Thawadi added that the State of Qatar pursued a strategy to achieve community development by facilitating mobility between different residential areas through the establishment of metro, rail and tram lines.
The SC Secretary General outlined the phases of setting up modern transport and communications network in Qatar, saying that Doha Metro project includes 101 stations and will be conducted over two stages totaling 220 km.   Al Thawadi added that the Ministry of Transport is seeking partnerships with major companies. 
He said that the SC shared the experiences of other countries that had hosted major sports tournaments, such as Brazil and Germany that hosted the World Cup in 2006 and 2014 as well as Russia which will host the next World Cup, stressing that the legacy projects of the World Cup 2022 in Qatar will commence before hosting the tournament.
For his part, Assistant President of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Abdullah Hamad Abdullah Al Attiyah revealed in his speech that about $20 billion will be spent on infrastructure projects in Qatar, adding that the State encourages the private sector to contribute significantly to infrastructure projects in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Al Attiyah welcomed all the foreign companies that have expertise and know-how to work in Qatar to contribute to its mega projects.
