Qatar Airways won the 'Airline of the Year' award at the 2017 Air Transport Awards, as the airline was recognised for its innovation, service, hospitality and leading product design.
The awards ceremony, held at the Latrou Residence in Ekali, Greece, and attended by the world's leading airline executives, recognised Qatar Airways as the world's leading airline.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said: "We are deeply honoured to have been recognized by the readers of Air Transport News as the 2017 Airline of the Year. We take immense pride in driving our airline to be the best in the industry and to deliver our passengers an unprecedented on-board experience." "To receive acknowledgement from the loyal passengers who choose to fly with Qatar Airways is the highest honour for us to achieve and pushes us to work even harder to provide them with the level of commitment, service and attention to detail that they deserve every time they travel," he said.
Qatar Airways is celebrating the 20th Anniversary, with the airline now serving over 150 destinations. Qatar Airways was awarded World's Best Business Class, Best Business Class Airline Lounge and Best Airline Staff Service in the Middle East at the 2016 World Airline Awards managed by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax.
Qatar Airways is also a member of the "oneworld" global alliance. The award-winning alliance was named the World's Best Airline Alliance 2015 by Skytrax for the third year running. Qatar Airways was the first Gulf carrier to join global airline alliance, enabling its passengers to benefit from more than 1,000 airports in more than 150 countries, with 14,250 daily departures.
