Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation

The Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation today launched a course on ‘Innovation in Government Work’ as the first Arabic course on innovation, in collaboration with the Arab online platform ‘Idrak’.

The course is designed to monitor government innovation trends, and explore future governments in the Arab region and around the world to highlight the importance of innovation, and explain the importance of innovation in government work.

The course was announcement during an ‘Ibtakr’ workshop organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation in HCT-Dubai Men's College, which was attended by 800 federal and local government employees.

Huda Al Hashemi, Assistant to the Director-General for Strategy and Innovation at the Prime Minister's Office, said, "The launch of this programme is in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who has stated that innovation in government is not an intellectual luxury, administrative improvement or propaganda but rather the essence of the government’s role, development and evolution – it is the vital factor behind the transformation of a nation."

Al Hashemi added that innovation is the measurement of a government’s success, and that the course reflects the objectives of the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation to support the promotion of innovation culture in the region, and make the UAE a global platform for innovators.

The course consists of four study hours, introducing students with basic concepts and tools of government innovation. A certificate will be given upon completion of the course.

During the ‘Ibtakr’ workshop, a comprehensive presentation was given on the concept of government innovation, its most important elements, and its relevance to the National Agenda and the UAE Vision 2021, in addition to a number of innovative experiments around the world. It also highlighted policies to enable innovation and turn it into a social culture and theme of government work flow.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation team introduced the framework of government sector innovation in the UAE, which was specifically designed by the Centre to comply with the government vision to foresee the future and use smart tools for the development of the government’s performance.
