Syrian army retakes western side of Mayadin

Syrian regime troops managed to enter Al Mayadin city, one of the last strongholds of Daesh in Deir Ez-zor countryside, Russia Today quoted Syrian activists as saying Friday.
The Syrian regime forces, backed by the Russian air forces, recaptured the western side of the city, the activists added.
Earlier, Syrian military sources said that the Syrian army was five km from Mayadin city, aiming to retake all Daesh positions in southeastern Deir Ez-zor countryside.
Mayadin is one of the largest cities still under Daesh.
