US urges signing of Afghan security pact by year's end

The United States urged Afghanistan on Thursday to sign a draft security pact before the end of the year, after President Hamid Karzai said he could not approve it before April 2014. "We must move forward as quickly as possible to sign the agreement," State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said, referring to a deal on the future role of US troops in Afghanistan.
