Obama asks Congress to delay vote on Syria action

President Barack Obama asked Congress Tuesday to delay voting on US military action in Syria, arguing that Russia's plan to neutralize its ally's chemical weapons must be given a chance. "I have therefore asked the leaders of Congress to postpone a vote to authorize the use of force while we pursue this diplomatic path," Obama said in a live televised address, noting that Secretary of State John Kerry would head to Geneva to meet his Russian counterpart on Thursday.
