A delegation from an international labour federation inspecting the situation of migrant workers in the 2022 football World Cup host country, on Thursday urged immediate "bolder" steps by Qatar to protect labour. "Bolder steps are needed now, not in the future,” said a statement by the Building and Wood Worker's International (BWI) federation whose 18-member team Thursday concluded a four-day mission in the gas-rich state. Qatar has come under mounting pressure to end exploitation of migrant workers, as it embarks on a multi-billion-dollar construction programme to prepare to host the 2022 football World Cup. British daily, The Guardian, last month, said 44 Nepalese workers have died on construction sites in Qatar.
