Moscow - Itar-Tass
More than 100 settlements in Russia’s Far East have been hit by floods since late July, head of the National Crisis Management Centre of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) said on Wednesday. “More than 15,000 people have been evacuated during this period, including over 2,000 in the Amur region,” Vladimir Stepanov said. “As a result of heavy rain, more than 100 settlements have found themselves in the flood zone since the end of July, and more than 60 settlements remain in this zone in the Amur region,” he said. Over 100 road sections have been washed out, Stepanov added. More than 3,000 houses remain partially flooded, including more than 2,000 in the Amur region.
