Egyptian MP Mohamed Ali Abdel Hamid
Cairo - Mohamed Al Toni

Egyptian MP Mohamed Ali Abdel Hamid reassured the Egyptian people about the future of Saudi investment in Egypt after the anti-corruption campaign launched by Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman that targeted a large number of Saudi princes and senior officials.

He said that the institutions working in Egypt are not under the management of only one person, and the measures taken against their owners do not mean their closure. He stressed that the latest measures taken in Saudi Arabia against a number of members of Saudi royal family is internal issue, saying that it is not allowed to any foreigners to interfere in such issues.

He expressed his aspiration that security and stability dominate Saudi and to overcome any challenges that could face the Saudi people. He stressed that the latest measures in Saudi will not leave any negative repercussions on the Saudi institutions working in Egypt.

On the other hand, he expressed his opposition to some articles of the draft law establishing the transport regulation system submitted by the government to parliament.

He said that the bill in its second article includes the word "parcels" and therefore will be charged for the packages both international and domestic. Thus, He explained that the bill imposes fees on packages of dead from foreign countries, as well as the transfer of dead between the provinces.

He added, “It is unacceptable that fees are charged for transporting the dead among the provinces. The imposition of any additional charges or burdens on transportation is currently a crisis.” He warned that moving transport prices will inevitably raise the prices of all goods and services, leading to the addition of new financial burdens on citizens.

He added that the Egyptian economy is in one of its critical periods, stressing the need for taking serious steps to restore its rates of economic growth. He called the government for announcing its future plans to push forward the economic situation.

He signaled to the economic aids that the Gulf States provided to Egypt during the recent years, saying that these aids came to respond to Egypt's sacrifices for its Arab brothers. Regarding the IMF loan, He said that Egypt has a quota in the international institution so it has the right to take the loan, clarifying that the fund's job is to provide support for the member states if they needed.
