Riyadh - Arab Today

The result of the Egyptian presidential election will restore the country's historic leading role in the region, Egypt's ambassador to Saudi Arabia said Tuesday.
Afifi Abdul-Wahab told MENA that the announcement of the election result came to complete the second milestone on the transitional roadmap announced on July 3.
Abdul-Wahab stressed that President-elect Abdul-Fattah el-Sisi enjoyed a massive popularity among the Egyptian people.
Egypt's Presidential Election Commission (PEC) has shortly declared Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi Egypt's new president, confirming that he won 96.91 percent of votes in the 26-28 May election.
El-Sisi's sole contender Hamdeen Sabahi, took 3.9 percent of the votes.
