Defending champions, Qatar’s al-Rayyan SC opened their campaign in the prestigious 33rd GCC Clubs Basketball Championship  with  a comfortable 97-73 victory over al Muharraq of Bahrain in Muscat on Thursday. Al-Rayyan basketball squad showed impressive performance and took the lead all over the match, where players displayed widely-praise skills in the game to end the match 97-73. His Excellency, Sheikh Saud bin Ali Al-Thani, The FIBA Asia President attended the opening match and congratulated Al Rayyan’s board , technical staff members and players for this convincing victory. The participating teams were pooled in two groups, Group “A”  Al Rayyan (QAT), Nizwa (OMA), Al Ahli (UAE), Al Muharraq (BAH). Group “B” Ahli-Sidab (OMA), Al Sadd (QAT), Uhud (KSA) and  Kazma (KUW).
