Mohamed bin Zayed receives Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing team

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces received this evening at Al Bateen Palace members of the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing team who won the Volvo Ocean Race (VOR) in Gothenburg, Sweden.

In the meeting attended by H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the team members and exchanged with them greetings on the occasion of the holy month of Ramada. He congratulated them on the win and wished them further success in future competitions.

Sheikh Mohamed praised the determination of the team members, saying achievements in sports were necessary to maintain the image of the UAE in international arenas.

The team members who won the race aboard their boat Azzam thanked Sheikh Mohamed for his unlimited support to different sports in the UAE and pledged to continue success in future competition.

The Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing team sealed a historic double triumph, winning the overall race title and the in-port race trophy as well.

Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Executive Council Member, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saif Al Nahyan and Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Transport Department and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.
