Cairo - Arabstoday
Ahly Portuguese coach Manuel Jose apologised to Egyptian journalists in an official statement published on the club’s website on Sunday and made some clarificationsAhly coach Manuel Jose apologised for branding Egyptian journalists “dirty people” in an interview with the club’s in-house television channel. The sports reporters’ association said Saturday that it might file a lawsuit against Jose due to his several verbal attacks on them.“I didn’t mean to deride journalists, because I [actually] respect them. I am sorry for leaving this bad impression with the journalists, but I was referring to a specific person who used to mock me in his all written works,” read a statement on Ahly’s official site.“I will lodge a complaint to The Egyptian sport reporters’ association against that journalist who caused this entire saga” Jose’s statement added. The 65-year-old Portuguese tactician launched several verbal attacks on journalists during his previous two stints in charge of Ahly, but matters seemed to have cooled following his return to the Cairo giants last January. However, he became grumpy again and described journalists as “dirty people” in a TV interview following Ahly’s elimination from the CAF Champions League group stage at the hands of Tunisia’s Esperance.
