The Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Police Schools Department, has won five medals, including one, one silver and three bronze medals, as well as the Best Player trophy, at the GCC Taekwondo (Kyorugi) and inaugural Poomsae Championships which took place in Manama, Bahrain.
Colonel Waleed Al Shamesi, Head of the Police Schools Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said that the U.A.E. team in the tournaments included 5 female athletes in addition to the accompanying technical and training staff.
He commended the considerable efforts made by the participants during the championship to highlight the civilised and shining image of the U.A.E. in sports competitions.
"This heralds a promising future for them in achieving high levels of success and athletic performance locally, regionally and internationally, under the support of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare that encourages the U.A.E.'s sons and daughters to achieve leadership in various fields," added Colonel Al Shamesi.
In conclusion, he gave the championship's results as follows: Murifa Al Mazroui claimed a gold medal in Taekwondo and the Best Player trophy in the women's category, Ghalia Askar won a silver medal and Mahra Mousa, Maitha Saeed, and Kholoud Eid won bronze medals.
