The Emirates Camel Racing Federation has organised the 2nd Camel Race in the 2017-2018 Season on Sheikh Zayed Camel Racetrack in Khartoum.

The race, organised under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and the instructions of Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President, and President of the Camel Racing Federation, was attended by Major General Abdul Rahman Sadiq al-Mahdi Assistant President of the Republic of Sudan, and Mohammed Humaid Al Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Sudan, and a number of top Sudanese executives along with large crowds of spectators.

The Sudanese Assistant President expressed the Sudanese government and people's appreciation of the UAE wise leadership and people for their generous support for camel racing which, he said, is considered now among the most popular types of sports in Sudan.

"Camel racing is an integral part of our Arab and Islamic culture and the UAE is considered the major custodian of this heritage sport which was revived and promoted during the life of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, God bless his soul, who dedicated specialised tracks and courses for exercising this sport until it has become among the most popular in the Arab region and the whole world," al-Mahdi said during a reception hosted by the UAE ambassador in honour of the participating delegations.

Bushara Guma, Minister of Animal Wealth in Sudan, likewise expressed his country's sincere gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for their ceaseless support for the country and the people of Sudan
