Culture Minister Abdel Wahed Nabawi
Cairo - Arab Today

Inaugurating the New Suez Canal on Thursday sends a positive message and will buttress development in Sinai, the culture minister said.

In statements to MENA on Wednesday, Culture Minister Abdel Wahed Nabawi said the political leadership insisted that only Egyptians would be the financiers of such purely national project to send a clear message that Egypt is restoring its power by its own people.

He said finalizing the project on time is a national achievement.

He said Egyptians have proved that they are capable of achieving what is deemed to be impossible.

He added that the New Suez Canal inspires hope for Egyptians for a better future, considering the new waterway as a gift to the whole world.
