Islam is part of Europe, the minister of foreign affairs and integration in Austria has said.
Sebastian Kurz clearly stressed this idea, saying he is totally convinced of it.
His remarks came in response to anti-Islam slogans that have been repeated for years in reference to activities of right-wing parties against Muslims in Austria.
Provocation divides societies, Kurz said in the inauguration of the Islamic Conference at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna Tuesday.
More than 200 academics and university professors from inside and outside Austria attended the conference.
Also religious scholars and experts were present.
