Foreign religious ideologies have helped spread of extremism and harmed the true Islamic values, Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb said on Tuesday.
During a meeting with a delegation of the ٍSalafist Nour Party, the Grand Imam said that such ill thoughts create a pretext for those who hate Islam to attack the religion.
President of Nour Party Younes Makhioun asserted that Al Azhar will ever remain the top Sunni reference and "a shield against extremism and terrorism".
