Azhar working on spreading awareness about extremism

Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb said the Islamic institution has been dispatching preaching missions abroad to spread awareness among Muslims about the dangers of extremist ideology.
During a meeting here with Egypt's new consul in London Alaa Youssef on Sunday, Tayyeb said Al Azhar has been training teachers and students at its English language institute in cooperation with the British Culture Council.
It also offered 20 scholarships for British students to study Islamic and Arabic sciences in Al Azhar, he said.
