Doctors demand safer conditions in hospitals
Tripoli - Moftah Mesbahi

Doctors demand safer conditions in hospitals Tripoli - Moftah Mesbahi Libyan doctors and medical staff have staged a protest outside Health Ministry buildings in Tripoli, demanding the government provide a suitable and safe environment for the smooth running of health institutions. Tripoli Medical Centre spokesman Gommaa Mohamed Nasr said: “Libyan doctors are demanding a state of security be returned to our hospitals.” Doctors have not completely suspended work during the strike. Medical staff have meanwhile threatened to increase striking hours to three per day. Security officials in Tripoli have called for police to be deployed outside Abu Seleim hospital, controlling entries and exits to various departments in the hospital. Protests have grown since armed gangs fired on a patient in the resuscitation room in Abu Seleim on Friday.
