China’s invitation to pool efforts in finding cure for cancer and AIDS

Russia is set to accept an invitation by Peking University’s Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Center to team up to develop new cancer and AIDS drugs, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said on Tuesday.

"We will accept your invitation," she said in a conversation with the Center’s staff member.

According to the Chinese scientist, the university’s research laboratory does not yet have experience in cooperating with Russia but it already works together with research centers in Canada, the United States and Europe. "We will take this into consideration," the Russian deputy prime minister noted.

Golikova arrived in the Chinese capital of Beijing in the run-up to Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s visit, scheduled to take place on November 5-7. While in Beijing, she will hold talks with her Chinese counterpart Sun Chunlan, attend the 19th meeting of the Russian-Chinese Commission on Humanitarian Cooperation, and visit the inauguration ceremony for the Russian-Chinese Association on Television Cooperation. In addition, she is also going to take part in a ceremony to launch an online section dedicated to humanitarian ties and interaction between both countries within the mobile app called "Russia and China: the Basics".
