New Delhi - KUNA

Sri Lankan Navy has arrested 110 Indian fishermen on the charges of violating the international maritime boundary, state run All India Radio (AIR) reported on Wednesday. Quoting Media Spokesman of the Srilankan Navy, Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya, AIR reported that the fishermen and their 15 fishing vessels were captured near the coast of Mullaitivu in Srilanka. "These fishermen and their vessels have been escorted to the Trincomalee harbour. The fishermen will be handed over to the Trincomalee police remand tomorrow," the AIR quoted the navy spokesman as saying. The report further said that senior officials of the Indian High Commission in Srilanka have rushed to Trincomalee to ensure an early release of the fishermen. Eighty seven Indian fishermen were already in Sri Lankan custody on similar charges, the report added.
