Russia identifies terrorists involved in Volgograd bombings

Russian special services had identified the terrorists involved in recent twin suicide attacks in the southern city of Volgograd, the National Anti-terror Committee (NAC) said Thursday. "The identities of the two suicide bombers were established shortly after the explosions. Asker Samedov and Suleiman Magomedov were members of the so-called Buinaksk terrorist group. Their names were not disclosed earlier for security reasons," the NAC said in a statement on its website. Law enforcement agencies had also detained two men suspected of being accomplices in last month's attacks, the NAC said. Two brothers, Magomednabi and Tagir Batirovs, who allegedly helped transport the suicide bombers to Volgograd, were detained Wednesday as a result of search operations in the southern republic of Dagestan, it said. Operations were continuing to identify and track down other accomplices, including the masterminds of the attacks, the committee said. The twin bombings killed 34 people and injured more than 100.
