A man in northeast China has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempting to kill his 2-month-old daughter with needles, officials said. Court officials said Yin Zhihe inserted a series of needles into his daughter because he thought she was not his biological child, Xinhua reported Tuesday. The first needle, inserted Aug. 4, was removed when the girl was taken to a hospital the next day. Yin inserted three more needles during the following two weeks, the report said. All the needles were removed during an Aug. 23 surgery, but not before causing injuries to multiple organs and respiratory failure. A DNA test later confirmed Yin was the baby's father.
