Los Angeles police said officers shot and killed a 72-year-old man who threatened them with a firearm during a confrontation at his home. The Los Angeles County coroner's office identified the man as Robert Gillon, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday. He was killed late Monday at his home in Granada Hills, in northern LA County. Police said officers responded to a report of shots fired at Gillon's home. He refused to come out of the house at first, but LAPD Sgt. Jerretta Sandoz said Gillon came out after about an hour, armed with a rifle and a handgun, and "threatened the officers with the rifle." Gillon was pronounced dead at the scene after police shot him. Police said no officers were injured. A news videographer whose name was not reported told the Los Angeles Daily News Gillon's neighbors said he'd had confrontations with police in the past.
