A military helicopter on Tuesday rescued an operator trapped on a construction crane by a massive fire in the southeast Canadian city of Kingston. The dramatic rescue took place after flames engulfed the operator's rig, trapping him high above the ground for more than an hour. The fire broke out in an unoccupied student housing complex under construction in downtown Kingston. Photos and videos showed a rescuer being lowered to the far edge of the crane to pick up the worker. Police said the worker was believed to have only minor injuries. The fire was "largely under control" and no casualties were reported. Locals were evacuated in case the fire spread to nearby buildings, which include a hotel and gas station. An emergency shelter has been set up for people to keep warm.
