The death toll from two Chinese boats that sank in separate incidents off the coast of eastern Shandong province has risen to 12, officials said. Two more bodies were found Tuesday, though maritime officials didn't say from which shipwreck. In the first incident, which occurred Sunday night, the vessel Xinglonghzhou65 sank off Yantai City. The bodies of three people from aboard the ship were found and nine were missing, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported. In the other incident early Monday, a cargo ship called Zihaishun, went down off Weihai City. Nine people died in that incident and five were missing, the Shangdong Maritime Safety Administration said. Rescuers said heavy winds and big waves could hamper attempts to find the remaining missing.
