At least eight passengers were killed, including a pregnant woman and a toddler, and another 23 were injured in northern Mexico Wednesday, when the bus they were traveling in overturned. The accident occurred at 8:50 a.m. local time (1350 GMT) along the Monterrey-Saltillo Highway outside Saltillo, the capital of Coahuila state, about one and a half hours after leaving the bus terminal in Monterrey, police sources said, adding the bus was headed to central Guadalajara, Jalisco. Preliminary reports indicate speeding and a wet pavement may have caused the driver of the bus, which belongs to the Transportes del Norte company, to lose control of the vehicle. The driver has been arrested. Images of the bus published online showed it was lying on its side at the edge of the road, with several covered bodies in the foreground. The injured, among them a two-year-old, were taken to hospitals for treatment.
