Dortmund - SPA

Four police officers have been injured in clashes with Schalke fans following an indoor football tournament, police in Dortmund said Sunday, according to dpa. Four Schalke fans were detained in the clashes after supporters heading back from an indoor tournament Saturday evening threw bottles, stones and other objects at police. Police used batons, pepper spray and police dogs to disperse fans. Police said the violence began on a train taking fans back to Gelsenkirchen from the tournament in Meschede involving lower-league sides and Schalke's Under-23 team. In Dortmund, police confronted fans who tried to break through a police barrier to reach the city centre. The violence continued in Gelsenkirchen, when around 150 fans attacked police following a control.
