The head of the Algerian Organization for the Promotion of Health and Scientific Research, Mustafa Khayati, said that the Algerian state is striving to reduce the number of people infected with tuberculosis.
Khayati said in a press statement to Arabs Today that it is not possible to provide accurate statistics on the number of people infected with this disease.
He pointed out that what is certain is that there are 16 recorded injuries per 100 children in Algeria. According to statistics revealed by the Algerian Ministry of Health, decline in the number of people infected with this disease, and decreased by 10 cases of 100,000 people since the beginning of 2000.

Professor Mustafa Khayati attributed the reasons for the spread of the disease to poverty,  low social environment and malnutrition. He confirmed that the spread of this disease is through infection, which is often through the "spit" of a person infected with this disease.

The professor pointed to the lack of medicines to treat tuberculosis in Algeria and also poor distribution due to lack of coordination between hospitals and bodies overseeing the fight against this disease, stressing that the situation has increased the daily suffering of patients.
Tuberculosis is among the 14 serious diseases transmitted by contaminated milk to humans, which can be transmitted through the circulation of anonymous and non-thermally treated milk.

The Algerian government has harnessed enormous material resources to combat this disease and has managed to reduce the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis, and the elimination of it remains a major challenge.

According to statistics revealed by Algerian doctors specialized in combating this disease, Algeria has recorded in recent years more than 22 thousand cases of tuberculosis, including 13 thousand cases outside the lung and 8400 cases of pulmonary tuberculosis, although the incidence of infection fell from 65 per 100 thousand people in 2003 to 57 per 100,000 people in the current year.
