UN Chief Ban Ki-moon
New York - Arab Today

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Friday warned that Ebola may be easing in parts of West Africa, but he said that it is still hitting hard in other areas and outpacing the international response.
If the world quickens its response, 'we can contain and end the outbreak by the middle of next year,' Ban said.
Mali, where six people have died and almost 500 are being monitored, is still of major concern, prompting Ban to dispatch World Health Organization Director General Margaret Chan to that country.
Chan warned that 'complacency will be our enemy,' and said that authorities in Mali must 'have a no-regret policy' as they work to contain the virus.
The officials urged more health workers to volunteer in the region and reemphasized that travel restrictions are not helping.
