Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi Al Dhaheri, Minister of Justice, headed the UAE delegation to the 32nd session of the Ministerial Council of Arab Ministers of Justice, held on Thursday at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
The participants discussed a number of legal and judicial issues in 22 clauses.
The UAE delegation included Judge Mohamed Hamad Al Badi, President of the Federal Supreme Court; Counsellor Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, the Federal Attorney General; Judge Abdul Rahman Murad Al Balushi, Director of International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Justice; Hamdan Al Khamiri, Director of the Office of Minister.
The session was chaired by Haidar Al- Zamili, Iraqi Justice Minister, who succeeded his Jordanian counterpart. It was also attended by Ambassador Fadhil Jawad, Assistant Secretary-General for Legal Affairs at the League of Arab States, as well as Arab Justice Ministers or their representatives.
In his speech during the opening session, Al Zamili stressed the need for concerted Arab and international action to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, referring to the war being waged by his country against terrorism in Mosul in co-operation with international and Arab partners.
The phenomenon of terrorism has no religion as it targets everyone and aims at creating a state of instability in the Arab countries, as it is unfolding in Iraq, Libya, Yemen and Syria, he said.
The council at its current session is discussing topics regarding the fight against terrorism and need for the issuance of necessary national legislation to confront it, Al-Zamili said. The council will also discuss a number of important issues, such as the network of the Arab judicial co-operation and the council's role in the unification of Arab legislations.
